It was just a typical Monday. Everybody was wearing the white-and-blue school uniform, talking to each other about their summer vacation. Mustangs and BMWs filled the parking lawn, making some bikers park on the muddy area. It was always like this. Popular students ruled the school, while the less-popular ones had to accept their nasty fates without ever being able to flip the table.
Cassy rolled her bright-blond hair with a manicured finger, her eyes darting from one side to another. She was clearly impatient, standing with other students she referred as dorks and fully exposed to the sun. It wasn't that she hated sunlight, but her tan was already perfect, and she didn't want to ruin it.
"Cass? Hey!" When that familiar voice ringed through her ears, Cassy instantly looked to the small figure not far from her, getting bigger and bigger as she got closer. Here she was, the girl who made Cassy wait. Her long black hair fell in the way it should, her green eyes getting brighter thanks to the sun, and her skin glowed, almost like a vampire in Cassy's favorite novel. "Sorry for making you wait so long", she apologized.
"Gee, Anna, what took you so long? I almost died here!" Cassy complained. Anna just gave her an apologetic smile, then she grabbed her hand. Even though the black-haired girl's nails weren't colored like Cassy's, they just looked...flawless. No, not just her nails and hair. Anna herself was flawless. She never got bad grades, good in sports, and friendly to everyone. Sometimes Cassy saw Anna with the jocks, and it also wasn't rare to see her with those annoying computer dorks.
"Sorry, Cass. Shall we go in? It's almost time."
Cassy nodded, and both of them walked into the school building. The bell rang exactly three seconds after that.
Deep inside her heart, Cassy knew that her junior year wasn't going to be just ordinary.
to be continued...
